More students are attending universities outside their own country. The number of international students worldwide rose from roughly 2 million in 2000 to about 4.1 million in 2009, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
If you are looking to study abroad or complete a degree, schools in the following 20 countries provide a top-notch education.
Australia
At the well-respected Australian National University, pictured, about 25 percent of the school's roughly 16,700 students are international, according to the school's website.
Two other highly respected Australian schools include University of Melbourne and University of Sydney.
Universidade de Sao Paulo, pictured, has more than 90,000 total students at its campuses, according to its website.
Canada
The University of Toronto, widely recognized as one of the world's top schools, is a public institution founded in 1827. According to the school's official website, the university, pictured, enrolled 9,832 international students in fall 2013.
Canada's McGill University also does well in global rankings.
